An important note about before and after photos: All before and after photos are patients of our practice who have given us written permission to use them. They are not a guarantee that your results will be the same. Please keep in mind that results do vary.
Breaking News 6/25/2014: We just received two brand new CoolSculpting CoolSmooth applicators which are FDA-cleared to treat the outer thighs. This is an area we had been unable to treat previously. This applicator is different than the other CoolSculpting applicators. Because there is no suction involved, the procedure takes longer. From the photos of the results we have seen, it's going to be one of our most popular procedures..ever. We'll keep updating you as we know more.
Lori Tucker from WATE News followed one of our patients during her recent CoolSculpting procedure. If you're thinking about CoolSculpting, you'll want to watch this.
What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a non-surgical treatment which eliminates stubborn fat
Coolsculpting is the most innovative, non-surgical way to get rid of areas of stubborn fat that resist diet and exercise. This brand new procedure targets and cools unwanted fat cells in a selected area to achieve a noticeable, natural-looking reduction in your fat bulges. Coolsculpting is equally popular with men and women and we are the first physician's office in Knoxville to have it. We are also the first and only practice to be CoolSculpting Certified.
Coolsculpting is safe, FDA-cleared and effective. Results happen gradually and look totally natural. You'll see a difference as early as three weeks following treatment with the most dramatic results achieved after two to three months. In clinical studies, most patients experience a fat reduction of 22-25% after their Coolsculpting treatment.
Make Peace With Your Two-Piece
Coolsculpting involves no needles, surgery, or anesthesia. Instead this body-contouring treatment relies on a suction and cooling applicator. The process only takes about an hour per area treated. Patients usually read, work on their laptops, or simply relax during their procedure. Best of all, there's little to no recovery time. And guys, you don't have to shave the area being treated!
The trade-off is that Coolsculpting cannot provide the same results that you get with liposuction or tummy tuck surgery in terms of removing larger amounts of excess fat and skin. Still, the results are real and measurable. Both men and women find their clothes fit much better after having it done. Needless to say, we are super excited about it!
*Before we tell you more about the procedure, we want to be crystal clear about who is and who is not a candidate for Coolsculpting. This is very important to understand. Coolsculpting is indicated for men and women that have exercise resistant fat bulges.
It is designed for well-defined areas of fat with distinct borders that are pinchable and can be drawn up into the applicator. The areas treated are the abdomen, hip rolls, love handles, bra line and inner thighs.
The number of treatments needed will vary per patient, depending upon the size and shape of the individual. If you have a small frame, are within 10 pounds of your ideal body weight and have a small defined bulge, you may only need one treatment.
For larger areas, multiple treatments will be necessary for more noticeable results. At the time of your consultation, we will be able to better assess the areas you wish to treat and prepare a treatment plan that fits your goals, time and budget.
**Unfortunately Coolsculpting is not a treatment for obesity and it doesn't tighten skin. You most likely are not a Coolsculpting candidate if you are overweight or have:
-Dense, taught, core fat with no distinct bulges (barrel chest/belly)
-Loose or unhealthy skin with excess skin laxity (hanging skin with little fatty tissue)
Dr. Reath Gets Coolsculpting
For a recent Truth-O-Meter Tuesday video Dr. Reath demonstrates what it's like to have a Coolsculpting procedure by having one himself!
Only Your Body Should Get More Buzz
We're not the only ones who think Coolsculpting is super-cool. This procedure has been getting plenty of media attention. All of our favorite magazines like Allure, Men's Fitness, Marie Claire and O have written about Coolsculpting. It also has been featured on television shows like Dr. Oz, Rachel Ray, Good Morning America, The Today Show and Nightline (just to name a few). We have collected some of our favorite clips for you to check out.
Did you know? Coolsculpting technology originated from the observation that children who ate a lot of popsicles had dimpling in their cheeks due to a loss of fat from excessive exposure to cold. The idea that cold can selectively affect fat cells led scientists at the Harvard Medical School to develop Cryolipolysis, the science behind Coolsculpting.
Coolsculpting: Behind The Scenes
Coolsculpting is the name of the technology developed by Harvard scientists and distributed by a company called Zeltiq. The FDA has cleared it as a safe an effective treatment for the flanks (love handles) and abdomen. Dr. Reath decided to incorporate it into his practice after hearing rave reviews from his colleagues around the country (and some not-so-gentle nudging by the staff, right ladies?).
Typically, there is minimal to no downtime after the treatment. However, patients may experience temporary pain or discomfort. Side effects can include redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness to the touch, cramping, itching, tingling, and numbness. Numbness can persist up to several weeks after a procedure. We will talk to you more about what to expect when you come in for your consultation and treatment.
Make Your Time at the Gym Look Like You've Been to the Gym.
When you have your Coolsculpting treatment, the affected fat cells will be eliminated. Exercise will keep your results permanent. As long as you maintain your weight with normal diet and exercise, your long-term results should remain stable. Similar to common feelings after liposuction, many patients feel more motivated to take care of themselves after their Coolsculpting treatment. It's as if they get a second lease on their body and want to start over by taking even better care of themselves.
Coolsculpting is priced per area. The abdomen is considered one area and both flanks (hip rolls, inners thighs, love handles etc.) another single area. Since each area takes an hour to treat, you'll want to decide how many areas you want treated before you come in for your appointment. And guess what? We bought two machines just so you can treat both flanks at the same time! Pretty cool, huh?
One Area Coolsculpting- One hour treatment $1,475
*For those who want two or more areas treated or one area treated more than once, there are significant discounts available to you. Your best bet is to come in for a free consultation and we will work out a CoolSculpting plan that meets your individual goals.
