Good news for Latisse lovers- Latisse is normally $120 per box. Now you can buy two boxes for $180. Allergan just added Latisse to their Brilliant Distinctions loyalty program (100 points per box) and has a $25 instant rebate available until September 30th, 2011.
If are wondering how your eyelashes would look if you keep using Latisse, just ask our Latisse posterchild, nurse Jill Maze (pictured here). Since you start seeing major results in your second box, we have changed our pricing so you'll have a chance to love it as much as we do.
Here are informal pictures of our nurse Jill Maze. She has the same mascara on in both of the pictures.
Interestingly, actress Claire Danes was on The Today Show talking about her recent Emmy nomination and the her experience with Latisse. Here is the video link:

"Longer, Fuller and Darker Eyelashes", for real
Here is one of the most exciting beauty advances to come to Knoxville since... well since, Botox. The company that brought us Botox and the wonderful filler, Juvederm, has just received FDA approval for a product that actually makes eyelashes grow “longer, thicker and darker.” Available only through physicians, LATISSE is a once-daily prescription treatment applied to the base of the upper eyelashes with a sterile, single-use-per-eye disposable applicator. LATISSE users can expect to experience longer, fuller and darker eyelashes in as little as eight weeks, with full results in 16 weeks. Below are photos taken during the clinical trial. They are unretouched and taken without mascara.
It's here and we are the first in Knoxville to have it! Buy Latisse at it's special introductory pricing of $120 or two boxes for $180.
*Because LATISSE is a prescription product, we'll need to schedule a very brief consultation with Dr. Reath to go over the usage and safety information with you. Scroll down to see safety information and tips for success.
*Staff Latisse Pics Our office staff is conducting our own eyelash study. Directly below are Jill's before and after pics. All the staff photos are taken at sixteen weeks with no mascara. Wow! (We are really enjoying being Guinea Pigs.) Buy Latisse at the Special Introductory Price $120 or two boxes for $180.
Here are Mandi's photos. Notice the difference in the color of her blonde eyelashes as well as the impressive growth.
Here are Theresa's pictures. Again, you can see that her lashes are darker, as well as longer. (Please disregard the spec of mascara left behind on her before picture.)
Our office frequently receives letters and emails from our patients. This is one from a very special patient who lost her eyelashes during chemotherapy for breast cancer.
"I first heard about Latisse while undergoing reconstruction after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I had completed my chemotherapy and was completely without either upper or lower eyelashes. After using Latisse for only 3 1/2 weeks, my lashes had already grown enough to use a little mascara! I've been using Latisse for a little more than two months now and my eyelashes are as long and thick as they were before the chemotherapy. This is really a great product!"
People go to great lengths to make their eyelashes look longer and fuller. Mascara, false eyelashes and even lash extensions are quite common in the quest for lush-looking lashes. Imagine the excitement when Allergan discovered a way to make those dreams come true completely by accident! What started out as a clinical trial for a known glaucoma treatment turned out to have a highly desired side-effect - significantly longer eyelashes. In a recent popular Truth-O-Meter Tuesday video, Dr. Reath tells all.
Here's the background: when the glaucoma eyedrop known as Lumigan entered its third phase of clinical studies, Allergan researchers noticed the drug's eyelash-enhancing effects and the company soon started considering the cosmetic applications that could be derived from it's active ingredient, bimatoprost. Applied directly to the base of the lashes, Latisse keeps hairs in their growth phase, producing longer, darker and thicker eyelashes. It contains a much smaller amount of bimatoprost than Lumigan, as it is intended for daily use.
Many medical breakthroughs have been made in a similar way. Alexander Fleming's unexpected discovery of penicillin is the most famous example. Fleming was conducting research on the flu and noticed that mold was growing in one of his petri dishes. Upon closer inspection, he realized that the area with the mold had no bacteria and proceeded to develop our very first antibiotic.
A more recent accidental breakthrough is Viagra. Most people don’t realize that Viagra was originally intended as a cardiovascular drug. Early in the clinical trials, scientists at Pfizer realized that it was not effective in treating heart ailments, but they decided to continue to study one of the drug's unexpected side effects. Incidentally, for years Botox was used as a treatment for nerve spasms around the eye and vocal chords, before its famous wrinkle reducing properties became apparent.
Together We Can Do Beautiful Things: Latisse Supports
Our office is thrilled that by supporting such a great product, we can support such a great cause. We all know the tradition of blowing on an eyelash in the hopes of making a wish come true. Now it really can!
The Latisse Wishes campaign aims to raise awareness and support for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. Allergan has already committed $500,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and, with your help, will increase this donation to $1 million. Actress Brooke Shields and our entire office staff have joined Allergan to launch this campaign designed to make wishes come true.
"As a mother, I am so proud to associate myself with Latisse, which is not only a wonderful product (I use Latisse daily), but has the vision to partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help children around the country."- Brooke Shields
Recently Allergan, Inc. hosted a star-studded event in Hollywood to launch Latisse Wishes. In addition to Shields and Soare, other stars including Debra Messing, Angie Harmon, Marisa Tomei, Mandy Moore, Debi Mazar, Jewel, Jennifer Coolidge and Perrey Reeves attended last night's red-carpet kick-off event for the Latisse Wishes campaign. "In my business I constantly work to help make women's beauty wishes come true and now we can help children's wishes come true through the Latisse Wishes campaign," said Soare. "I am excited to bring this worthy campaign to cities across the country."
Patient Comments-Real Latisse users from the clinical study share their stories:
"While pregnant with my second child at 23, I went through a lot of stress, and as a result, I began to lose my eyelashes … to the point where I literally had none! My eyes looked weird. It was embarrassing. I never realized the value of my eyelashes until they were gone. To make up for the loss, I started wearing false eyelashes all the time, which wasn't always convenient. But I kept wearing them … for decades! I'd pretty much given up hope of ever having eyelashes again. Then, at age 61, I was asked to participate in a clinical study for eyelash growth by my doctor. He didn't make any promises, but I was hopeful. The results were amazing! Finally, my lashes grew back thick and long! I was so excited. Now I have beautiful long eyelashes."- Jeannie
"I've always had thin, short lashes. They were barely noticeable. Within the first month, my lashes started to grow and, within two months, they looked even better. My favorite part is that the product is so easy to use."- Hope
"After using the product, my eyelashes really stand out. I get compliments all the time and it feels great! Everyone wants to know my secret … People even ask if I am wearing false eyelashes. I feel more confident knowing this product, unlike other lash growth products on the market, is FDA-approved, and comes from Allergan, a name I trust. I will absolutely tell all of my friends (and anyone who asks) about this new lash growth product." - Lisa
"My eyelashes got so long, the tips of my lashes hit the lenses in my sunglasses!"- Jolynn
Usage Instructions
1. Before applying LATISSE™ each night, ensure your face is clean, makeup and contact lenses are removed, and any other facial care products have already been applied.
2. Remove an applicator from its tray. Then, holding the sterile applicator horizontally, place one drop of LATISSE™ solution on the area of the applicator closest to the tip but not on the tip.
3. Immediately draw the applicator carefully along the skin at the base of the upper eyelashes (where the eyelashes meet the skin) just as you would apply liquid eyeliner. This area should feel lightly moist without runoff.
4. Blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid with a tissue. Dispose of the applicator after one use, Repeat for the opposite upper eyelid margin using a new sterile applicator. This helps minimize any potential for contamination from one eyelid to another.
Tips For Success
Think routine Try to incorporate LATISSE™ into your nightly routine — for example, after you've washed your face and brushed your teeth. Store the LATISSE™ bottle near your other skin care products or toothbrush, so you won't forget to apply it each night.
Have patience LATISSE™ takes time to work. Only use it once a night, and don't overuse it, as this may increase the chance of experiencing eye redness or itchiness.
Start fresh If your eye makeup remover leaves an oily residue on your eyelids, wipe off any excess oils with soap and water to ensure a clean surface before you apply LATISSE™.
Follow the rules Always use the sterile, disposable FDA-approved applicator provided in the kit. Don't try to apply LATISSE™ with a cotton swab. The LATISSE™ applicator is specially designed to hold a drop and release a drop, as well as ensure safety and maximize effectiveness.
Don't play catch up If you miss a dose one night, don't apply more just to catch up. Simply apply LATISSE™ the next evening and stay on schedule.
Beware of germs Don't let the tip of the bottle or applicator contact your fingers or any other unintended surface, in order to avoid contamination.
Chart your progress When you start using LATISSE™ solution, be sure to mark your calendar and take pictures throughout weeks (0, 4, 8, 12, 16), so you can have your own "Before & After Gallery."
Important Safety Information
Be sure to remove your contact lenses before applying LATISSE™.
Do not use LATISSE™ solution if you are allergic to one of its ingredients.
LATISSE™ solution is intended for use on the skin of the upper eyelid margins at the base of the eyelashes. DO NOT APPLY to the lower eyelid.
*IMPORTANT: If you have a history of glaucoma or abnormal eye pressure, you should only use LATISSE™ under the close supervision of your eye doctor. You should also tell anyone conducting an eye pressure screening that you are using LATISSE™.
The most common side effects after using LATISSE™ solution are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. This was reported in approximately 4% of patients.
LATISSE™ solution may cause other less common side effects which typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE™ is applied, or in the eyes. These include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. Although not reported in clinical studies, there is a remote possibility that LATISSE™ use may also cause increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye which could be permanent.
