Plastic Surgery Rebates: The Inside Scoop
Love them or hate them, manufacturer's plastic surgery rebates are becoming increasingly common in the non-surgical side of the practice. Since Dysport was cleared by the FDA and became a direct competition to Botox, we usually have some sort of plastic surgery rebate available to our patients. Done right, rebates can be a great way to save you a lot of money. Unfortunately, they can also be frustrating and not worth your time.
As a practice we struggle with promoting plastic surgery rebates for a couple of reasons. Not all rebate programs are created equal. Some are fairly straightforward and others require lots of audience participation. Although we want to help you save as much as possible, we hate being the bad guy if you don't get your money. And unfortunately, we don't have any control over the process.
So we decided to dedicate this page on our website specifically to plastic surgery rebates, and we'll keep it current so you can always check back to see what's new. Our goal is to give you everything you need to know to get your money without getting frustrated.
The Two Big Players: Medicis and Allergan
Basically, there are two major competitors in the injectable market that are providing rebates. Medicis markets Dysport and Restylane (which we no longer carry because our patients overwhelmingly prefer Juvederm). Allergan has Botox and Juvederm, plus our favorite eyelash-growing drug Latisse.
Medicis Plastic Surgery Rebates: Simple and Straitforward
Over the past year Medicis has gotten very agressive with Dysport rebates in an unprecedented attempt to tempt Botox users to give it a try. The Dysport rebates are very straightforward and none of our patients have had any complaints about their rebate process or their marketing e-mail follow ups.

Allergan Plastic Surgery Rebates: Complicated but Lucrative
Although we are big fans of Allergan's products, we have had some of our patients complain about the complexity of Brilliant Distinctions, their patient loyalty program. To benefit from Allergan's coupons or Botox rebates, you must be a member of Brilliant Distinctions.
In addition to rebates, the Brilliant Distinctions program gives you points when you purchase their products which can add up fast. In fact, they recently added Latisse at 100 points per box, to the Brilliant Distinctions program.
*Be sure to sign up for Brilliant Disctinctions before you come in for your appointment.
To work this program, you should be the type who keeps track of frequent flyer miles, juggles hotel loyalty programs, and uses coupons before they expire. You should be able to follow very detailed instructions online and be ready to get some marketing emails, a few of which have more instructions to complete.
From now until April 30th, you can take advantage of their 10th Anniversary Botox Special which celebrates 10 years of FDA Approval.
But you have to remember to log into your Brilliant Disctinctions home page and deposit the points into your account. To redeem points for coupons, you must print the coupons BEFORE your appointment and bring them with you to your appointment.

Allergan's Brilliant Distinctions Help Desk is open from 9am to 9pm Monday through Friday. Their toll-free number is 1-888-324-2745.
We do have a number of patients who have redeemed their coupons successfully and really like the program. If Brilliant Distinctions sounds good to you (and you promise, solemnly promise, not to take it out on us if you get frustrated) then you'll want to sign up BEFORE your next appointment.
Allergan is particularly generous with plastic surgery rebates for patients who use more than one of their products. Most rebates offered in the Brilliant Distinction program kick in when you have Botox and Juvederm together on the same day (the Duet Program, which they run periodically. The most recent one ended November 2011)
Note: Some practices advertise the Duet Program and other manufacturer's rebates as a "monthly specials" in their magazine ads to get you in the door. That's not the way we operate.
