Dr. Reath recently visited several US Senators and Congressional Representatives on behalf of children in Tennessee. He met with the offices of Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander, in addition to meeting with Representative John Duncan.
Dr. Reath is advocating passage of the CARES Act which would make mandatory insurance coverage for treatment of childhood deformities. Many times it takes more than one surgery to correct childhood deformities because their bodies change as they grow. Subsequent surgeries are being denied by insurance companies saying they are "unnecessary". This is devastating for families during a very difficult time. The CARES Act would eliminate this practice. Dr. Reath is optimistic about this bill passing. For more information on CARES please visit the ASPS website at www.surgery.org or email our office at Lisa@dbreath.com.
