CoolSculpting is a non-surgical treatment that reduces pinchable areas of stubborn fat.

It’s an innovative, non-surgical way to address areas of unwanted fat that resist diet and exercise. By targeting and cooling fat cells in a selected area, you can achieve a noticeable, natural-looking reduction in your fat bulges. CoolSculpting is the one treatment at our office that’s equally popular with both men and women from Knoxville to Cookeville, TN, and in between.

We were the first physician’s office to bring the technology to East Tennessee. Our CoolSculpting Technician Natasha Self has seven years of experience performing the treatment, twice as long as anyone else in Knoxville.

CoolSculpting is safe, FDA cleared, and effective. Results happen gradually as treated fat is naturally flushed away by the body.

Make Peace With Your Two-Piece

CoolSculpting involves no needles, surgery, or anesthesia.  Instead, this body-contouring treatment relies on a suction and cooling applicator. The process only takes about an hour per area treated. Our CoolSculpting patients, who come to our practice from the Knoxville area, Johnson City, Cookeville, Cleveland, and beyond, usually read, work on their laptops, or simply relax during their procedure. Best of all, there’s little to no recovery time. And guys, you don’t have to shave the area being treated!

CoolSculpting vs. Liposuction or Tummy Tuck Surgery

The trade-off is that CoolSculpting cannot provide the same results possible with liposuction or tummy tuck surgery in terms of removing larger amounts of excess fat and skin. Still, CoolSculpting results are real and measurable. Both men and women find their clothes fit much better after having it done. Needless to say, we are super excited about it.

Are You a Candidate for CoolSculpting?

candidate for CoolSculpting*Before we tell you more about the procedure, we want to be crystal clear about who is and who is not a candidate for CoolSculpting. This is very important to understand. CoolSculpting is indicated for men and women that have exercise-resistant fat bulges. It treats well-defined areas of fat with distinct borders that fit into the applicator.

Common CoolSculpting Treatment Areas

The areas commonly treated include:

  • Double chin
  • Arms
  • Armpit puffs
  • Abdomen
  • Hip rolls (muffin top)
  • Love handles
  • Bra line
  • Inner thighs
  • Outer thighs
  • Banana roll (fat on the upper thigh beneath the buttock)

How Many Times Do You Have to Do CoolSculpting?

The number of treatments needed will vary per patient, depending upon the size and shape of the individual. If you have a small frame, are within 10 pounds of your ideal body weight, and have a small defined bulge, you may only need one treatment.

For larger areas, multiple treatments will be necessary for more noticeable results. At the time of your consultation, we will be able to better assess the areas you wish to treat and prepare a treatment plan that fits your goals, time, and budget.

**Unfortunately CoolSculpting is not a treatment for obesity and it doesn’t tighten skin. You most likely are not a CoolSculpting candidate if you are overweight or have:

  • Dense, taught, core fat with no distinct bulges (barrel chest/belly)
  • Loose or unhealthy skin with excess skin laxity (hanging skin with little fatty tissue)

Dr. Reath Gets CoolSculpting

For a recent Truth-O-Meter Tuesday video Dr. Reath demonstrates what it’s like to have a CoolSculpting procedure by having one himself!

Only Your Body Should Get More Buzz

Best of the best
We’re not the only ones who think CoolSculpting is super-cool. This procedure has been getting plenty of media attention.

CoolSculpting Named Best of the Best Again.

New Beauty selected CoolSculpting best in-office treatment “Allover Fat Fighter”

All of our favorite magazines like Allure, Men’s Fitness, Marie Claire and O have written about CoolSculpting. It also has been featured on television shows like Dr. Oz, Rachel Ray, Good Morning America, The Today Show and Nightline (just to name a few).

Did you know?
CoolSculpting technology originated from the observation that children who ate a lot of popsicles had dimpling in their cheeks due to a loss of fat from excessive exposure to cold. The idea that cold can selectively affect fat cells led scientists at the Harvard Medical School to develop Cryolipolysis, the science behind CoolSculpting.

CoolSculpting: Behind The Scenes

CoolSculpting is the name of the technology developed by Harvard scientists and distributed by a company called Zeltiq. The FDA has cleared it as a safe and effective treatment and we were the first office in Knoxville to have it. Dr. Reath decided to incorporate it into his practice back in 2012 after hearing rave reviews from his colleagues around the country (and some not-so-gentle nudging by the staff, right ladies?).

Is There Downtime After CoolSculpting?

Typically, there is minimal to no downtime after the treatment. However, patients may experience temporary pain or discomfort. Side effects can include redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness to the touch, cramping, itching, tingling, and numbness. Numbness can persist up to several weeks after a procedure. We will talk to you more about what to expect when you come in for your consultation and treatment.

How Long Do CoolSculpting Results Last?

When you have your CoolSculpting treatment, the affected fat cells will die. Exercise will help you maintain your results. As long as you maintain your weight with normal diet and exercise, your long-term results should remain stable. Similar to common feelings after liposuction, many patients feel more motivated to take care of themselves after their CoolSculpting treatment. It’s as if they get a second lease on their body and want to start over by taking even better care of themselves.

CoolSculpting Price Range

This is the cost range for CoolSculpting at our Knoxville practice, with the lowest price being just one treatment on a single area:

CoolSculpting Price Range
$750 – $3750

CoolSculpting is priced per area. If you want two or more areas treated or one area treated more than once, it’s difficult to tell you exactly what it will cost before seeing you. Your best bet is to come in for a free consultation and we will work out a CoolSculpting plan that meets your individual goals.

CoolSculpting-Premier-CrystalOur price is right. As a CoolSculpting Premier Crystal practice, we get the best prices on CoolSculpting cards to run our machines. Even better? We pass these savings on to our patients. You’ll find that our treatments are right in line with other practices in town, and for more than one treatment, substantially less.

Allergan’s purchase of CoolSculpting has turned out to be a financial windfall for our patients. They have incorporated the non-surgical fat reducing treatment into the new Allē Brilliant Distinctions program. Not only can you use your BD points towards discounts on CoolSculpting treatments in our office; you’ll also earn 200 BD points per CoolSculpting treatment cycle to redeem later.

5 Areas CoolSculpting Works Better Than Liposuction

When I began my training in plastic surgery, liposuction was just being introduced. Since that time, almost 35 years ago, we have seen significant improvements in how liposuction is performed. Introducing Natasha Self, Certified CoolSculpting Technician

Natasha CoolSculpting
Quietly effective and totally charming, Natasha has been performing the CoolSculpting treatments at our office since we brought in the technology over six years ago.

Experience and training matter in this arena. Even though it is a non-surgical procedure, CoolSculpting is very technique-driven. There is a real learning curve before a provider really understands how to get the best results when treating patients, and Natasha is among the best.

Not only has she performed the most CoolSculpting treatments in Knoxville, but Dr. Reath flew her to Dallas and Montreal to train for days with the top CoolSculpting practices in the US and Canada. Natasha is the only CoolSculpting provider in Knoxville to attend the advanced CoolSculpting University in San Francisco…twice! You will benefit from her added experience and all the best practices she learned from the experts.

“I’ve always been such a people person, and helping both patients and Dr. Reath has been very fulfilling. Our patients’ excitement after they see the amazing results from their CoolSculpting treatments makes me excited too. It’s definitely one of the best parts of my job!”
