Injectable Treatments

It’s a great time to be over 30.

Injectable wrinkle treatments Knoxville
Never before have there been so many nonsurgical solutions for facial aging.

For those of you who have never had an injectable treatment before, you probably have heard about products like Botox and Juvederm, but are not exactly sure what they do. Dysport is a competitor to Botox which you may have heard of as well. Until you’ve experienced them, it’s pretty normal to be a bit confused about what exactly these products are and how they can help you look younger. Sure, both Botox and fillers are injectable wrinkle treatments, but they work in very different ways.

Botox. Once you get it, you really get it.

With an ultra-fine needle Botox is injected into certain muscles responsible for making facial expressions. By relaxing these specific muscles, the wrinkle and lines they cause disappear. You’ll still be able to smile, laugh and be expressive but your skin will be smoother and your wrinkles drastically reduced. So when you think of Botox, think crow’s feet, forehead lines and angry looking creases between your eyebrows. Honestly, we love it.

Fillers fill in lines and add volume to the face.

Juvederm, Volbella, Vollure, and Voluma are dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar that retains water and adds volume to the skin. Overwhelmingly, our favorite fillers are in the Juvederm family. They last longer, look the most natural and come in five different formulations designed for the area you want to fill in. When you think of fillers, think nasolabial folds, cheeks, under the eyes, marionette lines, depressed corners of the mouth, augmenting cheek bones and contouring jaw lines. Fillers are also used to plump and define the lip area.

Combined, Botox and fillers are even better.

New scientific studies confirm that the combination of injectable Hyaluronic Acid Fillers (like Juvederm) with Botox produces a result that is far superior and longer lasting than either one alone. The latest research confirms the long-lasting results we are experiencing here at our Knoxville office. This union of products allows us to treat wrinkles and folds over the entire face as well as adding shape and volume where needed.

So that’s a lot of information to get you oriented to Botox and fillers. The pages on our website are chocked full of information that will be helpful to you as you do your research. You’ll find procedure prices, rebate information and scores of before and after photos.

Here’s where to start:

(All the before and after pictures below are patients of our practice.)

Crow’s Feet

No expensive eye cream works nearly as well as a tiny bit of Botox to the crow’s feet area.

Juvederm has a dermal filler which is a much thicker formula designed to lift the cheek area. Juvederm Voluma is the first and only HA filler cleared by the FDA to restore volume loss in the cheeks, a major factor in the aging equation. Think about it like this: Juvederm Voluma XC lifts, as opposed to the other Juvederm products which fill in lines.

Brow Area

The frown line in the area between the eyes (glabellar region) is treated with Botox to stop the muscle motion. If you have more pronounced wrinkles here, Juvederm or other wrinkle fillers can be used to fill them in. It can also be used to correct brow asymmetry.

Botox is used to prevent the muscle activity, which causes wrinkles on the forehead. Like in the brow area, if you have deeper wrinkles in the forehead the don’t go away when you muscles are relaxed, a bit of Juvederm can work magic to fill them in.

Although “bunny-nose” wrinkles are cute for kids, they are not at all attractive once we get older. A bit of Botox makes them disappear. Wrinkle fillers are often used to contour the bridge of the nose, if that’s a concern.

Botox can bring a real smile to your face. As you age the corners of your mouth can turn down. When you add a tiny bit of Botox to the DAO muscles that cause this, the effect is striking. The corners come up to a normal level, and lose that scowling downward turn. You just look happier. The artful use of fillers can even lift the corners of the mouth to create an even more cheerful expression. Want even better news? Since it doesn’t take very much Botox, treating the DAO area costs much less than treating any other area. (Now you’re really smiling!)

Juvederm works beautifully to fill in the fold that runs between your nose and the side of your mouth (the nasolabial fold). A tiny dose of Botox with the addition of Juvederm corrects pursed lip wrinkles above the mouth.

Vertical Lip Lines

New Volbella XC is the perfect filler to use in those lines above your lip that come from smoking and drinking through a straw.

Injectable fillers are the best way to restore full youthful lips. You can choose to create greater definition of the lip line and add as much or as little volume as you like.

Just a little bit of Botox works miracles to treat “orange peel” aging around the mouth and chin. Relaxing the mentalis muscle in the right patient can take years off.

Jaw Line

Juvederm is used to contour the jaw line and is very effective when the laxity of the skin is minimal.

Other Options

Because hyaluronic acid fillers mold so beautifully, they can be used to fill in depressed areas, contour irregularities, skin defects and acne scars all over the face.

Meet Melissa Chambers, R. N.

We are thrilled to have Melissa join our practice. For many of you, she needs no introduction.  Her reputation for technical excellence and elegance is forged by 21 years of injecting experience right here in Knoxville.

Compassionate, nurturing, and calming, Melissa takes the time to listen to patients while kindly and expertly guiding them towards the results they’re wanting to achieve.

All of her patients from “Nervous Nellies” to injectable veterans are impressed by her personalized approach to their care and her gentle touch with a needle.

Melissa started her career as an Aesthetic Nurse Injector back in 1998. Those were the days of bovine collagen before anyone had ever heard of hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane and Juvederm.

In an area where new products are often coming to market, Melissa is uniquely qualified to choose the right product for each patient’s budget and goals, rather than wasting money on trendy, short-lived injectables.

In addition to her vast experience with injectables, Melissa’s background in dermatology and proficiency with lasers is a great asset to our patients. Together, Melissa, Christy, Dr. Reath, and Dr. Walker will evaluate the newest technologies and ingredients to give the best results to our patients.
